Situated on a hill, still surrounded by the city wall, stands old Certaldo, a medieval town in Tuscany, which was built entirely with red bricks and has preserved its fascinating integrity.
Certaldo is Giovanni Boccaccio's town where he is also buried. His house contains a very rich library. Especially in the summer period, there are numerous cultural, musical and artistic events, like in the third week of july the spectacular festival called "Mercantia" with its street artists and italian artisans on every corner.
